The Blue Flower symbolises a longing for distant cultures and travelling. It has always held a special meaning for me as a symbol of striving for new horizons. Perhaps this is because I travelled a great deal even as a child – in a VW camper through Europe and all over the world in my mind's eye through the vehicle of literature. I first dipped my toes in Linguistics and Literature through a love of literature – and quickly made a U-turn! From that point on the path became clear: Using language instead of picking sentences apart, regional and cultural studies instead of literary theory, long-distance travel instead of research discourse. Ever since, I have translated with passion and curiosity – with a specific interest in politics, history, sociology and travel.
